Sharing stories will provide a strong foundation for the campaign – in our schools and communities. Even people directly affected need to hear each -other’s stories - to get a full picture of what’s going on and to identify underlying systemic issues. By sharing stories we gain a deeper understanding of the human impact, we build solidarity and readiness to take a stand.

How to Share Your Story

  • Describe a situation or an incident which illustrates a problem that concerns you.

    Bring your story to life by describing the impact on the people involved, including yourself!

    Confidentiality is important (see below). Be brief, keep your story to a maximum of 200 words.

  • You will be asked to provide your name and contact information when you submit your story. This information will be held in confidence by the campaign.

    In the text of your story:

    • Do not name the school or the people in your story.

    • Do not include information which is so specific that it would reveal who was involved.

    Members of School Board unions:

    When you submit your story, please include your job classification and school. Only the campaign and your union will see this information.

    Remember to also contact your union directly about all matters that it normally deals with, including: Health & Safety, Critical Incidents, WSIB, Harassment, Grievances.

  • • The campaign will not be able to publicize all stories.

    • Stories may be edited for brevity, clarity and to ensure confidentiality.

    • You will not receive a reply from the campaign unless it is necessary to contact you about the content of your story.

    • The campaign will not address curriculum-related issues.

  • Go to www.fundourschools.ca. Click on “Here’s my story!”

    You will be connected to a form for you to complete and upload with your story.

  • Stories will be shared on this website and on social. Stories may also be publicized through the media or in campaign advertisements.

    You may want to start by sharing your story with family and friends. If you are a School Board employee, consider sharing your story with co-workers.
