Myth: The Ford Conservative Government has funded education more than any other Government.

Fact: The Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives has tracked that education funding per student per school year is down $1,200 since the Conservatives took office in 2018. For a school with 500 students, that's a funding cut of over $600,000.

Myth: Because of the actions of the Ford Government, our students are flourishing, and workers in schools are thriving.

Fact: The decrease in education funding has had a huge impact on our schools – everything from impacts on student learning to the increasing stress and workloads of teachers and education workers.

While students’ needs have increased since the pandemic, the Conservative cuts have resulted in fewer lunchroom supervisors, fewer Educational Assistants and Special Needs Assistants, fewer caretakers, fewer caring adults in schools. As a result, our schools are less clean, less supervised, less safe, and less able to address gaps in student learning, in student socialization, and conflict management. Worst of all, it's lead to an increase in violence.

If all of us take action by sending a message, we can put pressure on the provincial government to stop spending money on ads that speak about how much they spend on education, and instead put real money into publicly-funded education. Send a message to your MPP below.
